Inserting Tilde Accents: ALT-Codes

As we learn to write/type in Spanish, it is necessary to learn how to insert all the necessary tilde accents and special punctuation marks such as ¿ and ¡
Here are some Alt-code reference lists. Learning to use these are much quicker and efficient than having to use the Windows insert symbol screens.
To insert the desired character, hold down the Alt-key and type in the number code, using the keypad to the side and not the row of numbers across the keyboard. Make sure the Num Lock button has been pushed on.
Take note that different Windows systems require different codes, but here's some to get you started:
Á 0193 É 0201 Í 0205 Ó 0211 Ú 0218
á 0225 é 0233 í 0237 ó 0243 ú 0250
Ñ 0209 ñ 0241 Ü 0220 ü 0252
¡ 0161 ¿ 0191
If these do not work for you, please speak with me. I still use original coding from years ago, that works just fine even in VISTA 2007. Also, here's a link below to further explain Alt-Codes, as these are used for many things! http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Alt+Codes

Wow thank you. How I insert things like that is I either copy and paste, or I could use the spanish keyboard thing that you may also intall and it will appear at the right corner of you screen. But when I did push Alt and held it down, then slowly pushed those numbers, it did not work. It's good that you added the website at the bottom .

Okay everyone... Here is a site so that you can find ALL the accent/special-character ALT (or Option, whichever you want to call it) Combinations for Apple Macintosh:
http://tlt.its.psu.edu/suggestions/international/accents/codemac.html
You're welcome!
Examples: ALT+P= π (pi) ALT+Shift+P= ∏ (uppercase pi) ALT+E+Vowel= á, é, í, ó, ú ALT+N+N (press "N" twice and release ALT after first)= ñ ALT+Shift+/= ¿
